Passport Decertification Services

The Internal Revenue Code authorizes the IRS to “certify” taxpayers that have “seriously delinquent tax debt” to the State Department for restrictions on passports. Generally, the State Department will not issue a passport to taxpayers with significant tax debt after receiving certification from the IRS. Moreover, the State Department may deny passport applications or revoke a taxpayer’s current passport.

If you find yourself affected by this relatively recent law, the Law Offices of Marc D. Marsico can help. By quickly negotiating an Installment Agreement, Offer in Compromise or Appeal of the tax liability, the debt certification action can be reversed and your passport reinstated.
